Description
The RX Skeleton Craw is a handcrafted soft plastic craw bait built to displace water and trigger bites — and those oversized claws do exactly that on every fall and every retrieve.
When I want something with real presence on the bottom, this is the one I tie on.
What It’s Built For
The Skeleton Craw is built for situations where fish respond to bulk, movement, and water displacement.
That tight thump on the drop followed by the wide kick on the pull-through is what I designed this craw around.
The full-body rib structure isn’t just cosmetic — it traps scent, moves water, and gives fish something to feel. When they bite it, they hold on.
Why It Produces
The 5.25″ profile is big, and that’s the point.
Bass don’t always want small. When spotties are sitting on the bottom and they want something with real presence, this is what gets eaten.
Calico bass and sand bass respond the same way, especially when they’re holding on deeper structure.
How I Fish It
I fish this where fish are holding tight to the bottom:
- Texas rig pitched to pylons
- Jika-rigged in current
- Flipped into tight structure
It’s also effective as a trailer on the Cheapskate when I want more body and fall action behind the blade.
When to Use It
- When fish are holding on the bottom
- When you need more presence than a baitfish profile
- When smaller baits aren’t getting attention
- When targeting deeper structure
Conditions Guide
- Water type: Harbors, back bays, inshore saltwater
- Best around: Pylons, rocks, tight structure
- Depth: Bottom-oriented
- Presentation: Pitching, flipping, dragging, controlled fall
- Key trigger: Bulk, claw movement, and water displacement
How to Rig It
- Texas rig on a 6/0 EWG hook with a 1/2 oz bullet weight for pitching and flipping
- Jika rig in moving current when you want it to hang and wave in the strike zone
I use Blacktail Fishing 6/0 EWG hooks for both setups.
