Description

The [FISH]rx Cheapskate is a bladed jig collaboration. These colors were developed with Derek from Deek’s Jigs specifically for Southern California inshore fishing.

When I need to trigger a reaction bite or get fish to commit to a moving bait, this is the one I reach for.

What It’s Built For

The bladed jig is built for reaction strikes. That blade vibrates the second it hits the water.

The thump it puts out makes calico bass, sand bass, and spotted bay bass commit — even when fish aren’t actively feeding.

How I Fish It

I fish ours slow and kill it on the drop. Or I burn it straight at the wall on a fast retrieve. Both produce.

Cast it at structure, let it fall on a semi-slack line, and feel for the thump. Slow roll it just above the rocks for a different look on tough days.

Trailer Matters

The trailer matters on a bladed jig.

A good soft plastic trailer adds action on the fall — that’s when most fish commit. Without it, the bait goes dead the second you kill it.

Match your trailer to how the fish are feeding.

Why It Produces

The combination of blade vibration, flash, and trailer movement creates a moving target that fish can track and react to.

It works for:

  • Triggering reaction strikes
  • Fishing through structure
  • Getting bites when fish aren’t fully committing

Color System

These are SoCal-specific colorways.

Magic Mint and Spottie Special were dialed in for the water clarity and forage in Southern California harbors and back bays.

More colorways coming.

How to Rig It

The Cheapskate is designed to be fished with a soft plastic trailer.

Use Blacktail Fishing hooks when rigging your trailer weedless for tight structure.
